Our in house Medwedge step-down facility provides intensive rehabilitation services for patients who no longer require critical care but are not ready to return home. Our Step-Down or also referred to as Sub-acute care offers a 24 hour nursing team to assist our patients through recovery and rehabilitation, in a modern well-equipped facility, in a relaxed but professional atmosphere. The care is provided at lower than the hospital rates, with the permission and authorisation of your Medical Aid. The service fees of occupational, speech- and physiotherapists may also be claimed from the medical aid, if pre-approved.

Our Ocular Oncology Clinic at JHB Eye Hospital provides advanced care and cutting-edge treatments for children and adults who have been referred for the management of ocular tumors. Dr Lara Sandri heads up this first of its kind unit in South Africa . Together with her team, they provide a depth of experience and the highest level of care available. The clinic collaborates with other specialists such as ophthalmologists and cancer care experts to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment.
Our Medwedge Stepdown facility is a sub-acute licenced facility with 37 beds available for patients who need comprehensive medical care and rehabilitation after a surgical procedure or illness. We are contracted to medical aids and form a part of the greater NHN Hospital group.
PLEASE NOTE : JHB Eye Hospital is a facility used by Doctors to perform operations and NO consultations take place at JHB Eye. The doctors affiliated with Johannesburg Eye Hospital each have their own independent practices and consultations are conducted at their rooms and not at JHB Eye.
